1/8/10 - Girls Day In!

Today was a very low key day in the Duran household!

I had the unexpected pleasure of hanging out all day with little Olivia. We played lots, watched some TV, and had a good ol' girls day in. Although we had lots of fun together...

...Daddy's Girl was VERY excited when dad got home! Honestly, I've never seen anything cuter (even though I may have been slightly jealous)...Olivia and I were hanging out in the basement playing with dad got home. He walked in, opened the door and whistled to let her know he was home. She looked up, saw home, stood up faster than I'd ever seen and RAN over to home. She definitely loves her daddy!!!

Until tomorrow!!!

1/7/10 - Let it Snow??

Well, we got a fresh coating of snow during the night....This is always kind of a double edged sword for me. The look of a fresh coat of snow is great...it cleans everything up, make everything all glittery and pretty, and it's actually slightly warmer out when it's snowing. All pluses...I LOVE winter...I will always take winter over the heat and humidity of summer! BUT, I just wish people in Minnesota would finally figure out how to drive in this stuff! We get snow every year, our vehicles are equipped with those little things called ALL SEASON TIRES for a reason. When you slam on your brakes or drive like a d-bag, that's when you get into an accident. Just drive like a normal person, pay attention, and you'll be fine! Seriously....This is how my drive from the AV to the STP went this morning...the WHOLE way:

Yup, 30 MPH or less the entire way. It's horrible, and I hate it. Can't wait to see what the afternoon drive will be like :(

On the plus side, our prayers were answered and we got a FULL NIGHT OF SLEEP!!! It's amazing what that will do for you after a few sleepless nights...you truly forget how great sleep is! However, I suppose we shouldn't get too used to it!

Until tomorrow!

1/6/10 - From Zero to 100

Well, last night was indeed a LONG night. Olivia was up screaming and crying all night. In the morning, she has a 101.3 temp and was very unhappy. Luckily, grandma watches her, so I was able to get to work still knowing she was in good hands. She wouldn't eat all day (definitely not like her) and had a hard time sleeping. We're still pretty sure it's from her shots, but she's never had a reaction from them before, and you just never know, so of course we were still anxious about it.

I picked her up after work, got her home, and it was like she was magically back to normal. She was playing and laughing, dancing away. Flying her plane and getting into everything in sight. We got her to each some Chipotle Guac and some Macaroni and Cheese for dinner (hey, you do what you need to when they refuse to eat right??). She took a nice long bath and even figured out how to play basketball!! Here's hoping we get a full night of sleep tonight!!

Until tomorrow!!!

1/5/10 - 12 WEEKS!! (or 11)

Well, I've been taking pictures every week of this pregnancy. I decided to be brave and include them in the blog!! Be nice :) Today marks 12 weeks (by my calculation, possibly 11 weeks 1 day by the ultrasound). As everyone knows, that 12 weeks mark is HUGE, it always brings such a sense of relief to hit it. Everything has been going great with the pregnancy...my nausea is starting to fade away, I'm getting a TINY bit more energy with each day, and just growing away. I'm still down a few pounds, but you'd never tell by the big round belly!!! I don't have another appointment for 3 more week, and I'm getting so anxious for it...I really want to hear that heart beat pounding away!
Olivia has been ill the last few days, and she's now spiking a fever. Poor thing. We're pretty sure it's a result of her shots yesterday, but it's so hard to tell. She is ate OK most of the day, but is just not happy...I think we are in for a LONG night tonight!

Until tomorrow!!!

1/4/10 - One Year Check-Up

Today we were off to HealthPartners for the big one year check up for Olivia! Everything went really well. She was 22LBS (66%) and 30.75" long (93%). She is going to be a TALL girl! She's right on track developmentally and was flirting with her doctor, as usual. Our poor lady got two shots during her visit, but just had a very short break down afterwards. Her heart murmur was unfortunately still there, and still very loud. The pediatrician said even though we already had an echo done after birth, we'll probably be going for another in 3-6 months, just to double check, if the murmur is still there.

Olivia spent the day very tired and crabby...not sure if it's a result of the shots, or because she hasn't been feeling too well. Guess we'll be keeping an eye on that!

Until tomorrow!!!

1/3/10 - Sunday Recovery

Well, after a LONG week of preparing for Olivia's party, it's finally Sunday, and this Sunday is definitely a day of rest. Except for Olivia...she spend the day running about with all of her balloons! I think we could have skipped ALL presents and just given her these balloons...she loved them.

Thankfully we got all of our cleaning up done yesterday after the party, so today was spent playing, relaxing and watching football!! It was a good day in the world of football...thanks to a Vikings HUGE win and an Eagles HUGE loss, the Vikings clinched #2 in the NFC...so we are definitely making it to round 2 of the playoffs this year! YAY...superbowl here we come :)

We still spend the day in awe over the fact that Olivia is one. A year ago we were in the hospital trying to get the hang of all this baby stuff! Now, we have this little person running around taking over our house. It truly is amazing!

Until tomorrow!!!

1/2/10 - BIRTHDAY DAY!!

Well, it's here!! Our little lady is ONE! It's still so hard to believe. It was a very emotional day, thinking back to a year ago...the day our lives changed forever...the day our lives became more complete. It's so amazing thinking about how far Olivia has come in just 12 little months! She is walking, saying some words, she has such an amazing, fun personality, she is so independent and just a complete joy to be around. We definitely hit the jackpot with her!

The day started with presents from mom and dad!!! We gave her some roses (which she enjoyed so very much), some Mickey Mouse books and her very own chair!!

After Presents, she did some playing and some marching about...seemingly very proud of being one! After some more playing, and some breakfast, it was nap time!! Giving mom and dad plenty of time to get ready for the big fiesta. We were so happy and overwhelmed to see Olivia surrounded by so many friends and family, she's so lucky to be so loved!!

After some lunch, LOTS of present opening, some indoor pinata fun and some cake (which did NOT go over so well), all of our party guests started to head out. We cleaned up the house, and a VERY tired Olivia was off to bed early. It seems to be exhausting being one!!

I'm coming back to edit this post. I forgot to post Olivia's 12 month photo!! We've taken a photo on her "birthday" every month since she was born. As a baby, we took them laying down, next to the remove for comparison. As a toddler, we take them with her standing next to our staircase ledge. It's so crazy to see the change in just a year!

Until tomorrow!!!

1/1/10 - A Not So Lazy Day

Well, it's the first of the year! I'm excited about this new 365 Project, and I'm really hoping I can keep up with it!!

Today was spent getting ready for Olivia's birthday...and spent being in total shock that tomorrow our little lady bug will be ONE! While the cats enjoyed some basking in the sun time, there was no cat napping for mom and dad!!! We spent the day cleaning the house and doing some last minute shopping...getting ready for the big fiesta. It was a long hectic day, but it will all be well worth it when we get to watch Olivia enjoy her big day.

We topped the day off by finishing up a year long art project...painting Olivia's name for her room!! We've been wanting to do it for SO long, and I'm so happy with how they turned out.

Until tomorrow!!!
