2013 - Week 33

This week was pretty much back to life as normal. Olivia started soccer, we spent lots of time together and had a weekend of adventures!

Monday was a pretty good day. The morning started off pretty exciting...for Amelia anyway. She's officially forward-facing now. We turned her seat in Christian's truck when we went to Duluth a few weeks ago, but she doesn't ride in his truck often. Now, it's official. She's a big girl! She's still plenty small to stay rear-facing. And, honestly, I would still prefer it. Always better safe than sorry. BUT, she is 3 now, and she's pretty strong. So, I finally agreed to take the plunge. Of course, she loves it. And, I do love being able to look in my mirror and see her smiling face, so that's a major bonus. My baby, growing up! They were off to school for the day, we were off to work. Pretty standard day there. Then, the chaos began. Tonight was Olivia's first soccer practice! Ay! So, I rushed to pick them up, get them home, let the dog out, give them a snack and get Olivia changed. Whew! Then, we were off. Her little BFF, Bella, is playing too, so they had a good time playing together. They actually listened to the coaches pretty well and were doing a good job kicking and learning some of the basics. Hopefully she'll love it! Finally, we made our way home. Christian got the girls right into the bath, while I started dinner. I was trying to quickly whip up some tacos, rice and beans, while also unloading and loading the dishwasher. Everything was going fine...until I dumped our only packet of taco seasoning into the rice by accident. Whoops. So, I quickly looked up a homemade taco seasoning recipe...luckily, we happened to have a full spice rack, so I was able to mix some up. And, it was actually really good! I think I just might stick to making my own!

Tuesday was another fairly normal day. Work has been crazy, so I feel like the days just fly by. Christian is catching up at work from his week off, and just found out he'll be heading to North Dakota to work next week. It's going to be rough single-momming it for the week, but it's best for his position at work, so we have to do it. He's hoping it won't last the whole week, so we'll see. kidsteals.com had some Halloween costumes on special today, and I feel in LOVE with the Strawberry Shortcake costume...and, luckily, they had a couple of her little friends too. So, I made a hasty decision...ordered Strawberry Shortcake for Amelia, and Lemon Meringue for Olivia. That's one thing I can check of the list - feels good to be ahead of the game on something! My friend sent me one of those Myers Briggs personality tests today, sure she knew what I would be. I had done it before at work as a "team building" experiment, but couldn't remember my results. But, it wouldn't have been hard to figure it out, and the test is totally right on. I am a INTJ - Introvert, Intuitive, Thinging and Judging. Here is the full description: http://www.16personalities.com/intj-personality. For anybody that doesn't know me in real life, this about sums me up! The girls had a rough day at school. Well, Amelia had a blast because the Raptor Center came for a visit. She LOVES birds, so she was in heaven. But, I had bad reports for both of them...Amelia had been pushed over by another kid and hit her head on the slide, and Olivia hit another child. Olivia was put on punishment for the night...no outside, and no electronics for the night...for her behavior. After freaking out for a while and throwing the worlds biggest fit, I got her to calm down and asked her why she hit this other little girls. She says to me, "Well, she hit sissy!". My heart sank a little. Now, obviously we don't condone violence in any way. BUT, having your 4 year old defending her little sister is a little bit different than her just randomly hitting another kid. So, we had a long discussion about, and she went off to play. I just couldn't punish her for defending Amelia, it wouldn't be right. After that, the night went pretty well.

I was looking through old pictures, and realized that the girls don't look ANYTHING alike. Here is a side by side of each of their 3-year photos. Crazy. I don't even think you would think they're related...

Wednesday was another pretty busy day. School and work, per usual. Then, off to Olivia's 2nd soccer practice. Practice went well again, they're still pretty much working on basics and getting the kids comfortable. They should be setting the teams next week, so that will be exciting. We're hoping to get Olivia and Bella on the same team...I think they'll participate more and be more comfortable if they know somebody on their team, you know?

Amelia served up some sand cookies tonight. No thanks, dear. You're cute, but you ain't THAT cute!

Thursday was a pretty low key day. I had a couple meetings at work, then I got free lunch from Savvoy's for a planning committee I served on this past winter/spring. SO GOOD! That was about the highlight of my day, that's for sure! But, another piece of exciting news, is that our deck is finally, officially, DONE! It took way, way, WAY longer than I expected, but I'm so happy it's done.

Friday was definitely a FINALLY Friday kind of day. It was the girls' first official Friday at school since we changed their schedule. I could tell they were pretty worn out and ready for the weekend. Olivia keeps asking me why they don't go to Grandma's anymore too, which makes me kind of sad. Hopefully they adjust soon. We kicked off a pretty busy weekend tonight though. I'd bought a rollerskating groupon a few months ago, and it expires next week, so, we were off to the skating rink tonight. Unfortunately, they didn't have many of those things for the kids to hold onto available. Olivia attempted to skate on her own, but she was super wobbly. Amelia wouldn't even try it, and after a couple laps, she was pretty much over it. Lazy girl! The deal came with dinner and drinks, so we ate, hung out for a bit, and made our way home. The girls went right to bed, Christian went out with a friend for a bit, and I had a HULU night.

Saturday started off pretty slow. I did some dishes and cleaning around the house and we had some breakfast. Christian was off to work for a few hours, while the girls and I got ready for the day. Today, we were off to my family reunion, for my mom's side, that we have every August. It's held at a bar/club in St. Paul that my uncles, girlfriends, dad owns. There is a large picnic area, a park and plenty of room to hang out. It was fun catching up with our family for a while, and the girls spent literally the entire day at the park. We left around 6:30 or so, and the girls passed out as soon as we pulled out of the parking lot. They, again, went straight to bed when we got home. Christian and I had a late night snack and cuddled up for some movies. But, we only made it through one, Paranormal Activity 4, before passing out. It was OK...I was pretty creeped out afterwards though.

Sunday was another busy day. I got to work right away with my weekend chores...cleaned up the kitchen, picked up around the house, laundry. The usual. Christian mowed the lawn and picked up around the yard. Then, we were off to the Waterpark. My mom won a couple of passes a few weeks ago and gave them to us. This was the first really warm, free weekend day we've had this summer, so we couldn't pass it up. We tried out the girls' new life jackets and they had a blast. We went down some slides, rode the lazy river and did lots of swimming. Such a perfect day! Again, they fell asleep on the way home and napped for a bit. We had some dinner, I finished the laundry and we called it a night. What a weekend!

Two Days in a Row - Passed Out!

Well, that's another week! Lots of fun, and pure exhaustion!
