6/19/10 - Sale Over! Go Team!

Please Donate; remember, the life you help save could be your own!
THANKS MARY ANN FOR YOUR DONATION!

The sale is officially over! Today was actually a very fun day too! The weather was nice and cool (until about 2:00 when it all of a sudden shot up about 20 degrees!), we had lots of helpers to hang out with, Olivia had a playmate most of the day (then took a REALLY, REALLY long nap), I got to spend the day with the BFF, and Christian was there to help us all out too. We really didn’t have a ton left at the end of the sale…one of our team captains is taking the remaining kids stuff to Once Upon A Child to try to get some more money for the team, and everything else is being shipped off to a Habitat for Humanity garage sale, so YAY! Everything is gone! In the end, without the sale of the remaining kids stuff, it looks like we’re just over $500.00. I don’t know about the rest of the team, but I’m pretty happy with that! Now, it’s over, we have our garage back, and our team is doing better than ever! Out of all the Relay teams, we are in #2 for raising donations, so go us!

After the sale, we rested for a while, ordered in some food and just hung out. Once Olivia was down for bed, Christian and I attempted movie night…I ALMOST made it all the way through “The Hangover”, but didn’t quite get there. What I saw was really good though :) I’m so old!

Here are some pics of Olivia and her newest playmate, Caleb!

And here is one of her just looking like the big girl she is!
And shout out to Gini, who did an awesome job running Grandma’s Marathon today!! We all knew you could do it!

6/18/10 - Day 2 Over!

Please Donate; remember, the life you help save could be your own!

Day 2 of the sale was not quite as successful, but it still went well. I’m not sure how much we brought in today, there didn’t seem to be as many people out…we were pretty slim on customers most of the day. And the heat…OH the heat, it was so hot out today, just horrible. We actually ended up shutting down the sale a little early. It was becoming a little dead customer wise in the afternoon, and just getting way too hot.

Today was my day with Olivia, so my mom actually took the day off so she could take her for me. Thank goodness! She came over right around opening time, fed her breakfast then took her to the zoo and stuff for the day. Since she had Olivia, and we closed up early, I actually got to just lie down and rest for a while. She got back to our house around 4:30, we played with the puppy for a while, then ran to get some dinner. On my way home from dinner Olivia and I stopped at the store to pick up some puppy supplies…got him a few toys, some treats and a doggy bed. Still need a collar (and a name) but we’re getting there!

The worst news of the day…Olivia has officially learned how to climb out of her crib. NOOOOOOOOOO. I went in to get her this morning, only to find her sitting on the changing table, like it’s no big deal. Not cool…that kid is NOT going into a toddler bed yet! So, we’re going to have to see how things go, do some rearranging and pray that she won’t climb out if there isn’t anything for her to climb onto! She is going to give me a heart attack one day, that’s all I know!

6/17/10 - Day 1 Over!

Please Donate; remember, the life you help save could be your own!

Day 1 of the sale was pretty successful! It was a long, VERY windy, warm, humid day though. That part was no fun. We spent the morning putting stuff out and organizing, finished pricing everything and crossed our fingers for some good sales! Unfortunately we didn’t have a ton of “big ticket” items, but we had a ton of stuff, so we’re hoping the little sales just add up big time.

The heat and wind and exhaustion really got the best of me today and put me in a horrible mood. I just couldn’t take the kids, all of the people, the weather. I took a few breaks, but that didn’t help much. Pregnancy hormones definitely did not help either! Once the sale was done, and everything was pulled in for the night, I jumped in the shower and put my feet up for a while. Christian grabbed some dinner after work and we just took it easy the rest of the night.

The sale did go really well though. I think we brought in a little over $275 today (which seems pretty good for not having any “big” items). Hopefully the next couple days go just as well…and hopefully the weather is better! We ended up with statewide tornado warnings! It got really dark and green and scary looking around dinner time at our house, but luckily the bad storms just skipped right around us!

Here are some puppy pics. It seems he kind of thinks he's a cat...he has taken over the cat toys and has decided a laundry basket makes the perfect bed!

6/16/10 - 34 Weeks!

Please Donate; remember, the life you help save could be your own!
First, today I’m 34 Weeks. Moving right along! I’m feeling OK these days. I get tired very quickly, and need to take breaks when we’re doing lots of work around the house or something, but overall feeling pretty “normal” still. This baby is still incredibly active, and brutal with her kicks and movements! It’s fun to watch her go crazy in there! There really isn’t a ton to report on this week…I’m sad everything is coming to an end soon, but getting more excited t meet her every day! I’m starting to get really anxious to know what she looks like…Olivia is such a great mix of Christian and me. I wonder if this one will take more after me, more after Christian or look like Olivia’s little double. I wonder if this one will be bald/blonde as can be like I was, take after Christian’s family and come out needing a hair cut or be somewhere in between just like Olivia. I wonder who’s little features she’s going to have…it’s all such a wonderful mystery!

Other than that, today was my Friday, as far as work goes. And it was a crazy day! It’s hard preparing to be gone for two days! We did have an office picnic today though, so that was a really nice break in the day!

After work it was home to meet up with the BFF and finish up getting ready for the big sale. She and her little boy stopped over so we could make sale signs and get all of that prepared. We ate, colored, put Christian to work making stakes for the signs; then sent him off to put the signs up. I’m sure he was happy I volunteered him for so much! Sucker!

So, now we are ready to go! I think I have a LOOONG few days ahead of me! We long ago decided Andrew (Kari’s son) and Olivia would get married some day, so here’s a picture of their romance beginning :)

6/15/10 - Our New Family Member!

Please Donate; remember, the life you help save could be your own!

No No, don’t worry, baby didn’t make an early appearance!

Today Christian and I brought home our very first puppy!! Apparently we decided that life wasn’t hectic enough with the two of us, the house, the cars, the toddler, the soon-coming newborn AND the three cats…a puppy was just what we needed! But, hey, you only live once, right?!

Sunday, my mom woke to funny noise. Turns out, a little tiny puppy was sitting on her doorstep, crying, sad as can be. She took him around her neighborhood, asking around to see if anyone lost a puppy or had been looking for one, and nothing. No signs were up. She had him checked to see if he was chipped, and he wasn’t. I took him to the vet to get checked out and get his initial shots. The vet said he looked perfect, sounded healthy and estimated that he was only around 4 months old. Poor thing! He is primarily Chihuahua, and the vet things he may have some terrier mixed in.

I brought him home, and we blocked off the entry way for him to start in. He and Olivia got slightly acquainted through the gate. Later in the evening, Rico started getting a little brave and came to check him out…they spent the rest of the night “playing”/figuring out who’s boss. Even Frank eventually came down to check him out, but he was not a big fan. Chloe…well, she was her usual rude self and just stayed away completely. At bedtime we ended up locking the cats downstairs, where their litter boxes and food are, because we’re worried they won’t go down to their stuff. So, hopefully everybody can learn to live with each other quickly!

We’re so excited for our new addition. We’ve wanted a puppy for SO LONG, but with the new house and the kids that keep coming, it was just never the right time (we want a big dog, so that makes it harder). So, this little thing may be just what we needed! Now...puppy just needs a name! We can't even name our upcoming bundle of joy, and now we have to name a dog on top of it!

6/14/10 - Kids Shouldn't Get Sick...

Please Donate; remember, the life you help save could be your own!

Seriously, I don’t think there is anything worse than watching your little one sick, helpless. It’s horrible. I picked Olivia up from my in-laws, like usual, and she just looked miserable. I guess she actually was crying for a while shortly before I got there…which she never does. She even sat on the couch watching TV for a good span of the morning, which she also never does. It’s so hard to know what’s wrong…my best guess is that it’s a mixture of the drastic weather changes lately and teething, but I’m also worried that she’s developing allergies. I sure hope not! Once I got her home, she seemed like a new person. She was running around, playing, laughing…acting crazy like usual. She didn’t eat a ton for dinner, but overall she seemed “back to normal”. Hopefully she’s on the mend. Poor thing, I just can’t stand watching her be miserable.

Our day and night was pretty low key. We just tried to entertain the little one and keep her busy. I have tons of laundry to do this week…and only managed to get one load done tonight! Ugh, I’d give anything for some time to do laundry…but, alas, it will be a week-long event.

Here are some pics of our little lady, putting on a brave face :)

6/13/10 - Is This It??

So, while pretty much the rest of our summer weekends are jam packed, I'm hoping for a little rest after today! Please...

We had a rainless morning today, so we took advantage and did some of our outdoor work. Olivia had a bit of a rough night. She woke up a few times...got herself back to sleep each time, but she was up nevertheless. She ended up not getting out of bed until around 10:30! I couldn't believe it. But, it did give us plenty of time to clean the desk and the patio, and get the garage cleaned up in preparation of the sale next weekend.

Christian headed over to his parents' house to pick some stuff up that they donated to our sale. The Relay team started showing up just before 1:00, and the rest of the day was just a blur. We had a little fundraising meeting before hand, then everyone headed outside to start unloading cars, setting up tables, putting sale stuff out and pricing the goods. It was pure chaos! But, everything moved quickly and I now have a garage full of tables and goodies! After that, we had our formal meeting and we were done!

In the midst of everything, my mom stopped over with a little surprise...she had woken up to a little Chihuahua on her front steps this morning! She took him all around the neighborhood to see if anyone would claim him or if there were any signs up, and nothing. Christian and I have wanted a dog since we bought our house..but then Olivia came, then I got pregnant again, and it just didn't seem like the right time. It still doesn't, and we both really want a big dog, but this little thing might be just right for our situation. He is the cutest little thing, and of course stole my heart right away! My mom is going to take the dog to the Vet tomorrow to see if he's chipped. If not, Christian and I have some discussing to do...but it looks like we may be getting ourselves a puppy! I know, I know...just what we need! Apparently a house, two kids and three cats just isn't enough trouble for us! What can I say, I'm a sucker for a cute little animal face!

Speaking of which, tonight I spotted Chloe sitting at the end of the hallway, and it made me laugh (well, minus the demon eyes!) :)
