2015 - Week 24

Here we are, off on another week! We were all off to work and daycare, as appropriate. The day progressed pretty smoothly…until Christian was on his way home with Eliza, and she threw up in the car. Again. UGH! I don’t know if she gets car sick or what the heck is going on, but it breaks my heart (and it’s SO gross!). Poor thing. After that, she was perfectly fine though. So weird, so very weird. Christian met me at daycare and took Amelia with him to baseball, while Olivia and I were off to her softball game. After ball, we settled in at home for a quick dinner and bath before bed. We held our breath all night hoping that nothing else would hit Eliza, that she’d keep her dinner down and that she didn’t start acting ill. Luckily, we made it through the rest of the evening without issue. Whew!

Sissy's Biggest Fan!

Tuesday, of course, Eliza was completely normal. Not a single issue at all. I may have to just mention it to her doctor, and see what he thinks might be causing it. So, we were all off to work and daycare. I plugged away most of the day, but I did leave a bit early for my hair appointment. Yes, a hair appointment for ME! It’s been well over 2 years now since I’ve done a single thing to my hair, so I was more than looking forward to it. Of course, in true fashion, I cut off all of my hair! I think it was about 18” gone when all was said and done. I went way shorter than I’ve ever gone before too. I love the big change, but it’s going to take time to adjust, that’s for sure. I also got my hair colored…it’s noticeable and drastic enough, but should blend well since lord knows I won’t be back in the salon anytime soon. Oh man, it was so nice. Then, chaos (reality) hit. We were told Olivia’s softball pictures were going to be on 6/19. I thought it was strange…a Friday, so late in the season, so much later compared to Amelia. Then, suddenly last night, our coach hands out the picture order form and it says 6/9, NOT 6/19. I was so upset. There was no way I was canceling my hair appointment – I never do ANYTHING for myself, I wasn’t risking canceling and putting it off forever again. With all of the construction going on, and my salon being so far away from home, I knew that I would be cutting it short (pun intended). I had Christian leave work “early” and pick the girls up from daycare…and get Olivia as ready as possible (brush her hair, have her borrow some of Amelia’s gear [since I had Olivia’s with me]) and I had to leave my appointment early – I wasn’t able to get my hair styled after my cut, but I had to get on the road. I raced home as fast as I could, trying to avoid as many construction zones as I could, and just barely made it. Mind you, it’s a good 45 minute drive from the salon to our house under normal circumstances. Today, I had to make it there in rush house, amidst the construction, in that same timeframe. I was exhausted when all was said and done! They took everybody else’s pictures first, and then quick got Olivia’s done and the team picture when I arrived. What a relief! FINALLY, we all made our way home, had some dinner and settled in for the night. BIG news was that Eliza went the entire day without a bottle! I mentioned to them this morning that we were working on weaning her off now, and they just ran with it and held strong. I couldn’t believe it. So, we just continued at home. She isn’t a HUGE fan of milk yet, but we’ll work on it. We’d been doing part milk/part formula for the last couple weeks, working on transitioning her, so hopefully she’ll accept her milk soon. But, I’m pretty excited this no more bottle thing may be easier than anticipated!

Chop, Chop!

The Bottle-Free Babe!

Wednesday was my birthday. WOOT! The big 3-2. 32 Years Old. I can’t believe it. I swear I was just graduating high school yesterday. Now I’m creeping up on my mid-30’s. Unbelievable. But, alas, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME! It was a pretty dang good one too. My friend at work brought in bagels for breakfast, and everybody else chipped in for taco dip, fruit and brownies for lunch. YUM!!!! The girls made me some cards at school and made me some jewelry. Super cute. They were so proud, it warms my heart. Christian surprised me with a new charm for my bracelet and took us to Applebee’s for dinner – got myself a perfect margarita to complete the day. The girls did have ball tonight, but they both just had practice, so we decided to skip it. It was seriously a perfect day…mix in all of the texts and facebook messages from my friends and family, and I am truly blessed. Birthday’s aren’t half bad! After dinner, we settled in at home and the day came to an end. Flew right by!

Happy Birthday to Me!

On Thursday I discovered a new local radio station. This new station plays all old school R&B and Hip Hop, like late 80’s and 90’s. Every song brings back so many memories from my school days, I just love it. I posted about it and all of my school friends are just in heaven too. It’s so funny – I’m not the biggest music person – I’m much more of a TV/visual person, but it is amazing how music can transport you. Bring back so many memories and feelings. So, that was pretty darn exciting. I also sold the last of Eliza’s “too small” clothes today. So emotional. I love making the money and saving up for these things we need, and cleaning out the space, but those clothes also hold so many memories – especially the items all 3 girls wore. And, realizing that we will never, EVER have baby clothes in our house again was pretty heart wrenching. I’m so incredibly torn on the subject. Don’t get me wrong, we’re done having kids. But, it’s hard. I know that we cannot financially responsibly handle a 4th child, and I don’t know that I have the patience to start over again, but I still can’t imagine NEVER having another baby. So, that transaction brought up a lot of emotions, that’s for sure. AND, in some final exciting news, “Orange Is the New Black” Season 3 was released early tonight, and you better believe I hopped right on that train! As soon as the girls went to bed tonight, I binged a few episodes. Tomorrow is my day off, and you better believe that I will finish it up! What a day! However, as of quitting time today, I was heading into 10 GLORIOUS days off, and that was such an amazing feeling. It was chaotic getting prepared to be off for so long, but absolutely worth it.

This Week's Throwback, a look at all of my visits with Dawn!

Friday was a much less emotional day. It was my day off, thankfully. Christian was off to work, the big girls were off to daycare, and Eliza and I spent the day hanging out at home. I binged the rest of Orange is the New Black, of course finishing it up, we played, ate, and Eliza took a nice long nap. While watching my show, I did get a lot of cleaning done. Our friends from Indiana arrive tomorrow, and while we’ve managed to keep the house pretty clean and picked up this week, I had to do some final stuff today…dishes, the basement. The usual. I can’t believe their visit is finally SO CLOSE!!! After Eliza’s nap, we ran to Target for some snacks, pop and general stuff for the house, then picked up the big girls. After work, Christian and his friend Lorenzo ran to Menards to buy the new shed for the large. That’s the first big item we have been saving up for. Our garage is just exploding with stuff, SO MUCH STUFF, that we can hardly park in it anymore. So, we really need to get it cleared out. The shed was on sale, and we had more than enough saved up to buy it, so we took the plunge. Now, hopefully we can get it up soon! And, now we have to start our savings all over again! Next up, we’re saving for our Duluth vacation next month…otherwise, we may need to cancel it. Fingers crossed! The rest of the evening was pretty low key. Dinner, some TV, finished some picking up.

Hanging out with the babe...she loves kitty and her shoes!

Saturday was a great, BUSY Day! Christian was off to work bright and early. The girls and I were up and off to swim class right away as well. We were stuck with another 9:00AM start time session, and even though they just finished last week, they were right back into class today. The girls did well, but we definitely still need to work on their listening skills. So frustrating. Thankfully, my mom was at class today, so it wasn’t quite as hectic and exhausting as usual. She was able to help watch Eliza and keep her entertained while I got the girls showered and ready after class. WHEW, big time! After class, we were all off to Perkins for a late birthday brunch. YUM!!!! While we were eating, I received a text message from Dawn, my Indiana friend, that they were already WELL on their way, and would be arriving around 7:00. While I was SUPER excited, it was way earlier than they usually get here, so I was all thrown off. We still had a party to attend and stuff to get done around the house. Panic mode!!! I texted Christian right away, to prepare him so that when he got home he could clean up the entry way and make sure the bathrooms were in good shape. After brunch, we stopped home and I got Eliza down for a nap. Then, the big girls and I were off to a birthday party, for their little friend Rio – he was on Olivia’s baseball team last year, Amelia played soccer with his team here and there last fall, and he’s on Amelia’s baseball team this year. His mom is super sweet and I can see us becoming good friends with them. She rented a big bounce house for the kids and had all kinds of scooters and cars for the kids to ride. PiƱata, face painting, food, cake. It was a really fun party, with a TON of kids. The girls had such a blast. They were really upset, but we had to pack it up and leave as soon as the party ended. Once home, we did some final picking up and cleaning, and before we knew it, our friends were pulling up. It was so weird to actually be able to spend some time together after they arrived, rather than heading right to bed. The kids ran around and played and it warms my heart how they just jump right into it, as if they see each other every day. So amazing. We adults chatted and caught up and laughed and were just so relieved to finally be spending some time together again. Seriously people, it is beyond unfair to live so far away from people you are so close to! We did eventually have to throw in the towel and head to bed, but I can’t even tell you how much I was looking forward to our time together!

Celebrating Rio's Birthday

My Awesome Face-Painting Skills!

Sunday was our first busy day. We were all up, eating and getting ready, one by one. Then, off to spend the day at Canterbury Park, a local live horseracing track. All of the kids were free to get in, and we bought a groupon a while back so us 4 adults got in for the price of 2. Cheap, fun day! I learned that Sunday’s were family fun day at the track…so the kids were able to do some free face painting, ride ponies, check out the petting zoo and they had a big park for them to play at. We grabbed lunch, watched a few of the races, let the kids do all of the fun stuff. It was scorching hot out, and we were all sweating up a storm, but it was a ton of fun. We even watched one of the races from right down by the track, which was pretty cool. We had never been there before, so it was a fun, new experience for all of us. After Canterbury, we were off to “Minnesota’s Largest Candy Store”…again, we had never been. And, WOW was that place candy. Every kind of candy every, pop, root beer, etc. ever made. It was a gigantic barn just packed full of everything you could imagine. And, for the most part, everything was pretty reasonably priced too. We each picked out some goodies, checked out, and packed back into the vehicles. Brooklyn, their 5 year old, has moved her booster seat into our van for the week, which is super cute. She wants to ride with the girls (and, I’m sure the DVD player is equally as tempting, LOL). We dropped the families off at home, Dawn and I made a trip to the store for dinner supplies, and settled in back at home for dinner and a night of chatting and relaxing and hanging out…well, as much as you can relax with 6 kids running around anyway. Wonderful Day 1!

Until Next Week! XOXO

2015 - Week 23

Well, here we go, another busy week!  On Monday, we didn’t have a sitter for Eliza, so Christian stayed home with her. I was super jealous…it’s hard enough leaving her every day, but I don’t like when he’s the one who gets to stay home with her! “Luckily”, he had a pretty rough, exhausting day. Sorry not sorry, it’s nice when he can see what life is really like! I picked the big girls up after work and we stopped home to get ready for ball. Then, finally, a late dinner, some baths and everybody was off to bed.

Daddy teased me with a picture of my baby at breakfast.

Softball Night

Tuesday started off pretty normal. Everyone was off to their appropriate place for the day...work, daycare, school. I settled into work, had a meeting, then almost immediately got a call from daycare. Eliza had been throwing up, and needed to be picked up. So, I quick finished up some stuff, and made my way back to pick her up. She seemed pretty exhausted when I got her – they said one of the times she threw up was when she was sleeping, so she was just worn out and not feeling well at all. She passed out almost immediately when we got home. I ate some lunch and got in a few hours of work. She was definitely tired…I finally  had to wake her up to leave. She seemed to be doing just fine when I woke her up, so hopefully she’s on the mend. We stopped at the UPS Store to return the couch covers we’d bought, we picked the big girls up from daycare, and then stopped to meet up with Amelia’s baseball team for her team pictures. My little pro, she did great! Finally, we met up with Christian back at home and settled in for the night. The girls swam for a while with their BFF Bella, we had dinner and just relaxed, hung out…had a quiet evening. I started watching the last season of Pretty Little Liars tonight – FINALLY on Netflix. Yes, I’m a teenage girl, still in love with PLL. I’m excited because the new season will finally be on Hulu again. Woot! I received an e-mail today from the mom of one of Olivia’s friends from school – who also plays on her softball team, inviting her to her birthday party. Olivia is so excited…but, this little girl has a twin brother…so, obviously it’s a joint party. And, now I’m all confused on what I should do. She made it clear that Olivia was being invited by the little girl, but can I really show up without a gift for him too? Oh boy, decisions, decisions! We ended the evening with quite the funny from Olivia…we were just sitting around, hanging out, when Olivia – serious as can be, looks at Christian and says “Daddy, am I made out of Mexican?”. Haha, we could not stop laughing. It’s so funny the things they come up with – the way they think.

Swim Time!!

Wednesday was a rainy, gloomy day. It was gray and dark and rained all day long. Makes for a sleepy, sleepy day! Christian brought the big girls to daycare while I stayed home with Eliza. Because of her throwing up yesterday, she had to stay out for 24 hours. She was doing really well last night, slept good, ate a little bit this morning and had a bottle. After a good nap, I brought her to daycare. Once back home, I put in a few hours of work – trying to preserve as much leave time as I can. I did some cleaning up around the house before picking the girls up from daycare. Christian met us there, and we split up and took the girls to ball. FINALLY, we all settled in at home…had some dinner, played for a while, the usual. I spent most the day catching up on PLL – I’ll be done with this season in no time!

On Thursday, I was back to work. Everybody seems to be happy and healthy and right as rain. I had a crazy, busy day catching up at work. I say it pretty much every week, but I’m so overwhelmed at work. My box is just constantly overflowing, I cannot get my head above water. With my week off coming fast, it’s just going to get worse. I just don’t even know what to do anymore. Christian received a Menard’s gift card from work for doing some deliveries last week, which is pretty cool. That will definitely come in handy with some stuff around the house. I picked the girls up after work and we made our way home. The big girls played downstairs, while Eliza was super clingy all night long. I had to wait for Christian to get home to make dinner, so we ate pretty late. While I was out checking the gardens, I noticed a big hold in the fence…two of the posts had come loose, so there was a huge gap…thankfully Chuy didn’t find it first! So, after dinner, Christian fixed that and cut the grass. Meanwhile, one by one I got the girls to bed and cleaned up. Olivia had a pretty exciting day at school – she got recognized in a little program at school for her Jump Rope for Heart fundraising a couple months ago – she was one of the top fundraisers and got a little pin. So cute, she was pretty proud AND, she lost another tooth today. Pulled it right out this morning. So crazy!

Finally Friday…FINALLY! Never soon enough. It was Olivia’s last day of school. Last day of Kindergarten. I can’t believe how fast this year went, and how much she’s grown. She can ready, her writing is so wonderful, she works really hard at spelling, her math skills are getting better and better. She just amazes me. I got her report card and she’s officially passed onto 1st Grade. So dang proud. She came home today with more paper than I’ve ever seen in my life and so excited over all of the fun stuff they did all day – following the school’s facebook page, they had quite a day of celebration. She was pretty upset that she wouldn’t be seeing her teachers anymore , which made me pretty sad for her, but I know she’ll have a blast with all of her friends at daycare this summer. It’s hard to believe we’ll have another heading off to kindergarten in a few months. And, speaking of that a one…Amelia has been a terror at school lately. She has been getting in trouble, getting written up , CONSTANTLY! I’m so frustrated with her, and I’m worried about how she’s going to do this summer with the more lax summer curriculum…and more kids. I hope it’s just a little phase, and she can get it out of control. I was really hoping she’d move up to the schoolage room for the summer…but, apparently they have too many kids for the summer, so she can’t. It upsets me a little…I think the kids that are already at the center should get first option at moving up, before they take in new kids, but that’s the “business” side of things I guess. Hopefully she’ll calm down a little and start behaving. Meanwhile, Eliza is a total walking machine now! I cannot believe in the last month she’s gone from just plain old crawling and a little cruising, to not only full on walking – but she even stands herself up! WOWZA, growing up way too fast, all of them! Outside of their chaos and milestones, it was a pretty standard day. I picked the girls up after work and we made our way home to hang out and wait for Christian to get home. We had dinner, watched some shows, played for a while. Had a pretty quiet night. The night ended with another funny…every night, we put the girls to bed, while I give Eliza her bottle and get her to sleep. Every night, as I walk down the hallway to bring Eliza into their room, I can hear the other two laughing and giggling, talking away. As I grab the doorknob, I usually hear one of them whisper “shhhh, she’s coming!” Usually they pretend like they’re asleep, I tell them to be quiet because baby is asleep, they realize they’ve been caught and they go to sleep. Tonight when I opened the door, Olivia rolled over and pretended to be asleep, but Amelia hopped out of bed, looked at me stunned and serious as could be asked me “Mom, where’s my pants?!” I almost died laughing – I mean, she went to bed with pants on, so what the heck happened is beyond me. Seriously, they just crack me up.

Here's to Kindergarten!

Love This Squishy Baby

Saturday was a super busy day. Christian was off to work. I was up early to shower and get ready before the girls woke up. First up, the girls and I were all off to swim class. Today was the last class of this session (they start up right away again next week though). Amelia still isn’t really swimming, or learning, but she’s getting more and more comfortable, and, for the most part, listening better as time goes on. She should be there soon. Olivia is doing great in her intermediate class, and she even got to jump off of the diving board today!!! Oh my gosh, she was so dang excited, and I was so proud. It’s been so hard to deal with Eliza at swim classes. I have to bring a stroller with to keep her contained, or she’s just all over the place, and I can’t even pay attention to the girls. The school where they swim doesn’t have an elevator, so I have to carry her and the stroller upstairs to watch class, then back down after. It’s always so hot, like a dang sauna, so we both just sweat. It’s exhausting, and I’m not sure how much longer I can do it. They usually take Sunday classes in the fall because of soccer – I might have to look into just doing that all of the time until Eliza is a little older so that Christian can be there to help. After class, I got the girls showered and cleaned up. We stopped home for a quick lunch, then loaded back up into the van…we were off to the salon for the girls’ haircuts and surprise nail appointments. We arrived at the salon, and when I went to get Eliza out of her carseat I found that she had thrown up all over herself. Her clothes, her chair, everywhere. We were already running late, so I was stressed out. I quick got her out of her clothes and into the stroller, did a quick clean up of her chair and husstled everybody into the salon. Once the girls were settled in for their nail appointments, I finished cleaning up Eliza and got her dressed. I don’t know why she keeps randomly throwing up like this all of the time. It’s so frustrating. Luckily, she was perfectly fine the rest of the day. The big girls loved getting their nails done, and laughed like crazy when they got their pedicures. It was too cute…they were so happy and excited, it was definitely worth the money. Next up, was haircuts. It was time to chop, chop, chop their hair off. It had been over two years since Olivia’s hair was cut, and quite a while for Amelia as well, so they were in for some drastic changes. Amelia didn’t really seem to care, but Olivia was a little upset about cutting her hair. She got over it pretty quickly, and hers was long enough to donate – after I explained that to her, she thought it was pretty cool. So, they look like brand new girls, it’s so crazy how different they look with a new haircut! After we checked out, I finished cleaning up Eliza’s chair the best that I could, loaded them into the van and we made our way back home. Christian took Eliza’s chairs out of our vehicles so we could wash the seat covers and clean them out good, and Olivia and I were off on our next adventure. Tonight was the twins’ birthday party she was invited to earlier this week. I did end up just getting her a gift, but I got her some fun outdoor toy kind of stuff, and spent a little more than I usually would, so it was more of a gift for both of them. It turned out they had invited some mutual friends and then each got to invite a few individual friends – and Olivia was the only one to show up for her friend, so I’m so glad we were able to make it. The party was at a local place called “Grand Slam”…they have arcade games, bumper cars, laser tag, mini-gold, batting cages…there is a TON of stuff to do, but there is also a TON of people there, and it was completely chaotic. There seemed to be a million birthday parties going on, and it was quite overwhelming. But, the kids had a great time, and that’s all that really matters. After some playing, gift opening, dinner and cake, we were on our way home. We got home around 6:00 and I felt like we’re been running around for days. I was beyond exhausted. BEYOND! Luckily Eliza didn’t have any more issues, so, like usual, we have no idea what was going on with her. The big girls played outside with Christian for a while, and were off to bed a little earlier than usual…as was I. What a day!

Swim Session, Done!

Getting Pampered!

Birthday Party Fun!

Thankfully, after yesterday’s chaos, today was a very low key day. No plans, no running around. We did some of our usual chores around the house…laundry, cleaned up the kitchen, picked up the living room. Overall, we just hung out and relaxed. MUCH needed for all of us. Today’s big even was Eliza turning 13 months old! I can’t believe it’s already been a month since we celebrated her birthday. Seriously, time just needs to slooooooow down! I didn’t take any measurements of her this month, completely slipped my mind, but I’d guess she’s around 25.5lbs and 29.5” based on history. As I mentioned earlier this week…she’s walking like a pro and she’s standing herself up. Her personality shines through more and more every day, she’s really coming into her own (and, I think she’s going to be quite a handful!). She’s still clingy and dramatic, but really, it’s party of her charm! Growing up, way too fast! And now we’re really in trouble with a super mobile baby, that’s for sure! Other than that, we were just dreading that fact that Sunday was ticking away, and Monday was knocking on the door. Like every week. However, I was heading into a 4-day week, then 10 days of vacation (9 for Christian), and that is pretty dang exciting!

Until Next Week! XOXO
