1/23/10 - Play Date!

Today we did some relaxing and some Menard's shopping...always exciting (well, for Christian anyway!). We have slowly been doing home improvements since we bought the house. More just, putting our touches on the house I guess. We are currently replacing the outlet/light switch panels in a few of the rooms. So, we bought those...let's see when we actually get them on the walls!

After shopping we headed over to the Madrid's' house for dinner and a play date. Olivia's BFF is 5 months older, and they are finally starting to actually interact with each other, so it's pretty fun to watch them play. There were a few fights and toy stealing incidents, but overall, they did really well together!

Now, we're just excited for tomorrow's big NFC Championship game!! We have all of our limbs crossed and are just praying to the football gods that the Viking's get it done! We'll soon see!

1/22/10 - Oh, It's Friday Night...

Here we are...another week behind us! We've both been crazy busy at work lately, so the weekends are a bigger blessing than usual! Not to mention, weekend means rare quality time together!!! Friday night is usually just a relaxing night around the house, and tonight is no different! Play with the energizer bunny, get her to bed, then catch up on some TV and adult time together! YAY :)

1/21/10 - Play Land

Well, we're slowly working on setting up a play area for Olivia/the Kids downstairs. It's coming along, but we're never too quick about these things! We got some of those foam mats from Sam's Club...we'll probably get another set. And have been splitting up the toys between the upstairs, downstairs and Christian's parents' house. We need to get some stuff for the wall around her play area, but we aren't sure what we're going to do yet. She loves Mickey Mouse, so I'm sure we'll do something with that theme. Oh, we'll see! So, here are some nice before and after shots of the area...before Olivia enters the room, and after! Seriously, the "picking up" is never ending!

1/20/10 - Pork Chop and Rice and Corn, Oh My!

Another low key day, of course! But, it is much needed so I won't complain! We're finally starting to realize how nice it is now that Olivia is at the point where she just eats what we eat! No more extra meals, no more baby food or buying special foods. We can finally eat together like a real family! YAY! Tonight was our first shot at pork chops, yum! Olivia is an odd eater though...she doesn't like you to feed her, and she doesn't like "little bits" of food...she likes big chunks and feeding herself...so, we handed her a pork chop and let her at it! It was interesting to watch!!

1/19/10 - 14 Weeks! (or 13)

14 Weeks!!! I cannot believe I'm already 14 weeks! And, I'm getting more excited with each passing day for next weeks appointment. It seemed like it would never get here. But, in one week, I will finally hear that heartbeat, and we'll hopefully be setting a definite due date, which will be very nice! I'm still down a couple pounds (same as last week), so hopefully everything stays out of control this week, and my doctor will love me at my next appointment! My sickness has been coming and going still. I get nauseous here and there, and as you read yesterday, had my first migraine since becoming pregnant. I really hope that was a one time thing! Other than that, just getting bigger and bigger! I'm sure I'll be resorting to maternity clothes very soon!

1/18/10 - Sick :(

Well, today was a rough day for Mama Duran. Today is Martin Luther King Jr. Day (rest in peace), which is a Holiday at my work, so I was home with little Olivia all day (Christian had to work). I woke up with a headache, but that's pretty normal...I think I sleep odd or something. Well, it just got worse as the morning went on, until it was a full blown migraine! I couldn't stand without shaking like crazy. My stomach was turning and it was just getting worse. I managed to get Olivia fed and down for her nap, but then Christian had to come home and relieve me. It was horrible. When I was pregnant with Olivia, I often had headaches, and would get a full on migraine one day every weekend...a knock down, I'm out for the day, migraine. Being that I'm through the first trimester, I thought I had escaped them this time around, but alas, here we are! Hopefully this was a one time occurrence!

Today's pictures are to represent the uselessness of toys. You can have EVERY toy in the world, the little ones can be surrounded by noisy, flashy, colorful fun things, and they will prefer anything that is NOT a toy...like phones and boxes (as pictured), along with remotes, coasters, pots and pans, and anything they can find when you aren't looking.

1/17/10 - Vikings & CHRISTMAS!!

Well, today started off WONDERFULLY!! The Vikings played the Cowboys in the second round of the payoffs...and killed them!! It was such a great game, and I'm so proud of the Vikings. I've been a die hard Vikings fan my whole life, and I'm so excited at how great our chances are this year. The Vikings have not been to the Superbowl in my lifetime (and have NEVER won one), so I've been waiting a LONG time for this. Next week, it's off to New Orleans. It's going to be a very hard game, but I definitely think we can pull it off!









After the game, it was off to my grandparents' house to celebrate Christmas. My grandma had a heart attack the week of Christmas, and had a hard couple of days following. After a few weeks of rest and physical therapy, we were able to get the whole family together to celebrate Christmas. It was so great to see everybody and be together, and I think we all learned a little bit more appreciation for the day and the time together after everything that happened. Olivia had a blast playing with all the kids and wore herself out!

1/16/10 - Saturday!!

Well, today is our new typical Saturday. Hang out around the house, get some shopping and chores done around the house, and early to bed. After Olivia went down for the night, Christian and I sat there and pondered about how different life is now. At 9:00, I was getting ready to pack it in and head to bed, exhausted from an early start and a long day. 9:00!!! And, this is our new norm! It's so strange how much life changes as you get older, and as you have kids...there is no way we'd be found at home, let along ready for bed, at 9:00 on a Saturday even a year ago, and now, that's just the new way of life.

1/15/10 - Typical Day In

Today was mommy's normal day at home with Olivia, so we spent the day cleaning (then of course making a mess again) and playing around the house...mommy is getting really anxious for outdoor weather so we're not cooped up all the time!

Rico is still the only cat who will allow Olivia around him, and he's getting better and better. He'll let her "hold him" and sit by him until she starts getting too violent. She just LOVES him!! The other two cats will barely be in the same room as her...and if she heads in their direction, I'm pretty sure they end up on the brink of a heart attack! Who knew a 2.5 foot tall human could be so scary!

1/14/10 - Daddy Time

Today was a pretty normal day, nothing exciting to share. Work and home, just like normal!! Olivia is becoming more and more interested in her books now...more for the reading, rather than the eating as it has been to date...so we've been spending a lot of time reading to her. Today was daddy's turn!
