Well, today was my Friday at work. Today was a pretty low key day. Just like before, Thursdays are crazy at work, trying to get as much done before the weekend as I can. Nothing has changed there! We didn't do too much at home today. We have a busy few days coming up preparing for Amelia's baptism, so we're trying to get some relaxing in now! So, we just ate some dinner, played and hung out with the girls tonight. Just the usual around our house! The Twins played again tonight, Game 2 against the Yankee, and...they lost, again. Ugh, they are on their way to getting swept by the Yankees, again. Hopefully they can get it together Saturday! Here are some pictures of the annoying animals (well, 3 of the 4 anyway). Frank of course is bothing poor Rico. Chuy, is just Chuy...
Christian and I are very into sports. We love watching all of the sports...I am obsesesed with Football, always have been, will always be a die hard Vikings fan. We both enjoy watching baseball (more so in person than on TV though), and love our Twins. We both get the itch for some hockey here and there (also much better in person). Christian enjoys his soccer (blah) and basketball (also blah, and the T-Wolves are nothing to write home about). So, yeah, we love sports, and today was a BIG day for us in that world. The Twins had their first playoff game against the Yankees tonight. I hate the Yankees, with a passion. If every team had the money they have to spend on their team and coaching staff we'd all be that great! It's not right. Of course everywhere you look it's basically considered a "given" that the Yankee's will demolish our Twins. Tonight's game started off great...we were up 3-0 halfway through the game and it was SO excited. But, unfortunately the game ran away from us and the Yankee's were victorious. Hopefully tomorrow!!Also big news....Randy Moss is coming back to the Vikings!! YAY, I am SO excited...and it's about time. They never should have gotten rid of him to begin with. Sure, he's a bit of a drama queen...sure, he caused some trouble while he was here, but who cares! He's a great football player, and he actually did a ton for our community that was barely recognized. Let's hope he lights a fire under the rest of the team...particularly one mister Brett Favre! In other news, today was very hard. I was literally the walking dead, all day. Not to mention the monster headache that hit me halfway through the day...the worst I've had in a long time. Amelia was not as excited to see me today after work, that made me sad. Olivia on the other hand was unusually excited to see me...she screamed MOOOOMMY, ran to me and gave me a huge bear hug. It was fabulous! My mother in law said today went much better...Amelia took a couple of naps, ate well and Olivia actually left her alone a little bit.Christian had dinner cookin' when we ladies got home. Olivia was her usual crazy self again this evening...I really hope this phase passes soon. She finally went to bed, we watched the game (I kept passing out...), and finally went to bed after Amelia fell asleep. What a day! Here is Olivia, showing her Twins Pride!
WOW. Today was exhausting....very exhausting. Thank goodness Amelia slept all night, that was my first worry! She got me up around 4:30AM to eat, which actually worked out perfect (yes, 4:30AM=perfect, it's ridiculous but true). I fed her and got her back to sleep, then jumped in the shower and got ready for work. While I finished getting ready to head out, Christian got the girls up, got Olivia bundled up, got Amelia in her car seat and helped me load them into the car. Once I left, he had to get showered and ready for work and take the dog out for a while. I'm nervous about Chuy's first day all alone again...When I got to his parent's house, his mom met me outside to help me with the girls. I think this will be necessary in the winter for sure! Christian ended up bringing everything else over there (diapers, clothes, bottles, etc.), because it was just too much for me to bring.I finally got to work...2.5 hours after I got up! That's crazy talk...I felt like I'd already put a full day in! Work was good. I had a box of stuff waiting for me. Everybody brought in treats and food, someone got me some balloons, everybody seemed really happy to have me back. YAY!The day flew by. It was flu shot day at work, so I got mine! I had to pump 3 times, so there goes my breaks and lunch. I spent a lot of time catching up with everybody, seeing how things were going around the office and making sure I knew what was going on in our world. It was 4:30 and time to go before I knew it. I was SO excited to pick up the girls. Olivia didn't really care that I was there, but I got a HUGE HUGE HUGE smile from Amelia...it made my day. Apparently she spent the entire morning upset and crying...she didn't nap well. She had 3 bottles, but only ate 10ozs...I don't know if that's normal, or if she was refusing to eat as well. When I picked them up Olivia was in the process of pulling all of her and Amelia's clothes our of the "dresser" and throwing them all over...that probably tells you how she did on her first day sharing Grandma and Grandpa! We finally got home at 6:00...Chuy did great, and went right outside to eat and play. I fed Amelia and Olivia entertained herself. Christian had to do a little shopping after working some OT, finally got home, made us some dinner and it was already bath time. Ugh, this part is horrible! By the time we get home and settled in, it's basically eat, baths and bed. No quality time together or with the kids, and it's literally been non-stop on-the-go from the second we wake up. I know we'll get into more of a routine and it will get easier...and tis' the life of a working parent, but it's still not fair! Here's a picture of the girls, watching a little TV, while I finished getting ready for work :)
Today is a sad, but happy day. It's my final day of maternity leave. I can't believe it's been 10 weeks already! Now, back to the real world. I'm so nervous...I feel like tomorrow is the first day of school or something! I'm sad to leave my little lady, but knowing that our mom's will be watching her is very comforting (as it was with Olivia). I'm excited to get back into the outside world...shower, get ready and leave the house EVERY day, have adult interaction/conversation EVERY day, have the mental stimulation of work that I've been missing. Of course, it's still hard though. I can't imagine going the whole day without hearing my little lady crying out for me. And pumping...ugh, back to pumping. As for today, I wanted to spend the day snuggling and spending time with Amelia, but of course, there's tons to do before the party on Sunday. While Amelia napped, I got their room and our room cleaned. I dusted and cleaned up the living room. Started getting my maternity clothes and the kids' too small clothes packed away. Did some miscellaneous organizing. Made some good head way. Part of the day I spent cleaning with Amelia strapped to me when she decided she would no longer nap, nor spend some alone time...that was quite a work out!Christian and Olivia had dinner with him mom, so it was basically time for baths and bed when they got home. I packed up all of the kids' stuff for his parents house, and got my stuff ready for work and hit the hay! Tomorrow is a big day :)Here is a pic of me and Amelia on our "last" day together!
It's Sunday, a busy one as usual! I spent the day doing laundry...lots of laundry! And, got the basement/kid's play area/living area cleaned up and organized. Christian installed the wood trimming they worked on yesterday...now he just needs to get and install a threshold and it'll be ALL DONE! He also mowed the lawn...we'll both be happy to cross that chore off our list for a few months pretty soon here! The girls were great today. Olivia and I spent some quality time together downstairs while I did laundry, playing and hanging out. She seemed to really enjoy that. After naps, Olivia and I made our weekly trip to Target for this weeks groceries and necessities. I've been doing my best to cut our spending more and more, including groceries. It's getting better and better too! I've been making a weekly meal plan on Sunday, and buying JUST what we need for that week (plus the staples of course, like eggs and milk). It's really helping. I was sad to see our "necessities" total though...for 3 boxes of diapers and a few odds and ends it was $119.00!!! DIAPERS, I hate diapers! Finally we were home and it was BEDTIME! Time to gear up for my last day of leave! Here is a pic of me and my new hair (it's not really styled too much here though...) since I didn't take one yesterday!
I can't believe my little devil in disguise is 21 months old! 3 more months and she'll be a big 2 year old! WOW.She's doing great...minus the jealousy factor and the ever so frequent tantrums. It seems like every day shes adding a new host of words to her vocabulary. She has a favorite book now that she "reads" to us...it's a cheap "Numbers" book from the dollar spot. She's not really into the numbers, more the pictures.
- 1 is "1 Duck", she laughs as she says "Duck, Quack Quack Quack".
- 2 is "2 Cars", she quietly says "Vroooooom".
- 3 is "3 Kittens", she says "Key Key".
- 4 is "4 Balls", she YELLS "BALLS".
- 5 is "5 Friends", she says "Meeka" (her BFF).
- 6 is "6 Balloons", she joyfully yells "Balloooons".
- 7 is "7 Lollipops", she says "Mmmmm, pop pops".
- 8 is "8 Teddy Bears", she questions, "Bear?".
- 9 is "9 Puppies", she screams "Puppy" and immediately runs to pet Chuy.
- 10 is "10 Butterflies"....we have yet to figure that one out.I love it, she amazes me! She has the most amazing memory I've ever witnessed....she knows where we keep just about everything, she knows where she leaves stuff, she knows what we're getting when we go certain places in the house...maybe she'll be some genius with a photographic memory when she grows up! Maybe it'll make her rich somehow!Today was a good day. Christian worked his OT all morning. I got up and got ready, got the girls up, fed and dressed, and his parents came over. I was off to spend some quality time at the salon, so his mom watched the girls until he got home. His dad came over to help with the next tiling step....cutting and staining some wood for the trim. Once I got home, and they were done, we ordered in some food. They left right after dinner, we played with the girls for a while, they went to bed, and we passed out on the couch. It was just too exciting of a day for us I guess!
NOTE: I still need to upload Olivia's 10 month photo so I can post today's comparison...
Yes folks, that's right....it IS October! I know, take a moment and catch your breath!October means so many things. Usually a drastic change in weather around here...often our first couple of snow falls in fact. The start of the Holiday's, Holiday planning and craziness that surrounds that. Packed weekends fitting in fall activities and the aforementioned Holiday stuff. Next weekend is Amelia's baptism, then we have to visit Sever's Corn Maze, carve pumpkins, go trick-or-treating, plan for Thanksgiving, HAVE Thanksgiving, go Christmas Shopping, celebrate Christmas all over town, plan Olivia's birthday...YES, that's right, our lady is going to turn 2 before we know it! Wow, that is just an endless list of BUSY!Today Amelia and I just hung around the house. There are a million things I should have been doing, but I decided relaxing and spending time with her was more important today! It was great. When Christian got home we ate some dinner and just hung out. We ended up watching Twilight after the girls went to bed (yeah, we're some of the very few that hadn't seen it). We actually watched an entire movie...stayed awake and everything! Then, we were quickly off to bed...Christian was offered some OT in the morning (of course we jumped on that!), and we have a busy day, so that's about that for today!Even though he drives me CRAZY, I snapped a cute pic of Chuy tonight...
It's hard to believe, but today is the final day of September! Wow, 2010 is quickly coming to an end, that's for sure!Today was a pretty low key day. Amelia was a great napper again, thank goodness! It seems like we're finally starting to get into an actual routine (just when I'm about to head back to work of course). She eats at more regular times, and takes actual naps. It's wonderful. I spent the day going through boxes of "stuff", continuing with my spring cleaning. It's times like this I'm happy I'm not a "Hoarder", because it takes me long enough just to go through the little bit that we do have! And, I finally sent back the broken lamp from the last time our TV broke (like 2 years ago)...go me :)Other than that, I spent a little quality time with Amelia when she was awake. Have to get in as much of it as I can these next couple of days! We spent the morning cuddled up in bed, and it was wonderful!Olivia had another out of control night tonight...and it's getting really frustrating. I don't know where that is coming from, but I hope it doesn't go on much longer! Finally it was bed time. I had some cleaning up to do while Christian got Olivia ready, so we let Amelia chill out in her crib for a little while (she only makes short visits to it here and there). Olivia wanted to get in and hang out with her, so they had a little pre-bed party together!
Well, I'm beyond tired today! Let me just tell you, nighttime is somewhat of a disaster around here. Amelia has been getting up once during the night again, maybe a growth spurt? Olivia has had a bit of a cold going on, so she's been crying out a couple of times at night (she just goes back to sleep). I can deal with those two waking me up. Christian snores so bad, it drives me absolutely crazy (he would love that I'm sharing this with the world), but usually with a few kicks and pushes he'll stop long enough for me to fall asleep. But, last night Rico was out of control! See, the cats usually sleep with us, but with Amelia in our room right now, we don't let them. Every once in a while one of them will rebel against that. Tonight, Rico did just that. He sat outside the door crying and scratching on the door. Every time I would go out to yell at him, he'd run away...then come right back after I shut the door. Finally, I sent Christian off to deal with him. That didn't help either. He eventually just gave up, but not after completely waking me up. Dumb cat.As far as today, we had another good day. Amelia napped great again, let's hope this lasts [knock on wood]! I finally returned the DirecTV boxes today (we switched to Dish Network last week to save some money), and spent most of the day in the garage doing clean up. It looks great now....everything is organized and all of the JUNK is gone. Let's see how long it stays that way though...I also cleaned up the kitchen, scheduled some upcoming appointments and spent a little time on the computer! YAY, a productive day :)After playing, dinner and baths, Christian decided it would be a good idea to let Olivia try on her Halloween costume. Of course she didn't want to take it off, it was hilarious. She would have been way too hot in it overnight, so we did finally manage to get her out of it...it was quite a battle though. At least we know she'll be happy to wear it on Halloween [obviously the bright teal PJ's won't be accompanying the outfit] :)
One week from today, I will be sitting at my desk. Back to reality. I'm nervous. I was really nervous to go back after Olivia too. Not only about leaving my baby, but actually going back. I was convinced everything would be different, and there would have been tons of changes while I was gone, and I felt like I wouldn't be needed anymore. Of course, none of that was true, but again, I feel that way. I mean, life went on there for 10 weeks without me, so of course I feel like I'm not needed. But, I did check my work e-mail today, and my supervisor has started assigning me work already, so maybe I really am needed!Today went well. Amelia decided it would be a good day to actually nap....for a change. I couldn't believe it! I have tons of cleaning and housework to do...but I decided to take this rare opportunity and relax instead. It was great. I made some yummy dinner, and we all settled in to watch some great TV (Glee, with Britney Spears...pretty much, my heaven). Olivia was out of control tonight. She would no listen to anything we said, she was very violent and aggressive, and CRABBY. Seriously, I'm not looking forward to the terrible two's if she's already acting like that! Finally, the girls are in bed! Christian and I are taking the evening off. After a late night last night, it's much needed! Here is a post-bath picture with Daddy!
